Fall Detection
Your Concierge Companion comes with the latest in precise fall-detection technology. When it registers a fall, it immediately alerts Astera Care so we can check up on you via the two-way communication. If we cannot connect with you, a caregiver will come to your home.
More than one third of seniors fall each year, and these incidents are the leading cause of senior injury, trauma hospitalization and injury death. About half of the falls happen in the home. No other events prevent more seniors from living where 89 percent state that they prefer – safely in their homes.
Works outside of the home
Traditional fall detectors are wirelessly connected to an in-home central through which the client must talk. Not all falls occur next to this device. Half of all falls happen out of the home where the fall detector has no connection.
With the Concierge Companion on you, we are there to check up on you right away. With other safety devices that alert emergency response centers, experience shows that in most cases, seniors will not push the button. The fuzz and fear of having a full-emergency situation in their home, stops them from asking for the necessary help.
Less fuss and hassle
When you use your Concierge Companion, instead of having sirens light up your neighborhood, you will reach a familiar and friendly voice asking what we can do for you. If necessary, we will alert the proper emergency personnel. In most cases, it is sufficient to let your trusted caregivers assist if you feel that you need help.
After a fall, clients prefer to have us come over to check up on them, both for physical and emotional support. A home visit will be charged to your Astera Account. Members are required to have a minimum of two hours on their account to cover unforeseen events that require immediate help.
Attractive to bring along
If we are automatically alerted of a fall, and our client does not answer when we make contact through The Concierge Companion or other listed phone numbers, we will send a caregiver to the home at the client’s expense. Members can opt out from this service.
For the fall detection to work, it is important that the client have The Concierge Companion somewhere on the body. Our experience shows that when the device looks like a medical gadget, clients will not carry it. They may feel that it signals weakness. Or that it is simply unpractical.
With the small, elegant look of The Concierge Companion, its digital clock and its practical use as a mobile phone substitution, it is much more rewarding to carry it around with you. After all – who does not enjoy the opportunity to be waited on at the touch of a button?
